In addition to his poetry, Ghalib is also famous for his close-to-life and amusing letters that he wrote to a number of friends. One such letter was written to Shahab-uddin Saqib who was most probably working as a publisher or coordinator for Ghalib’s Devan.
A very interesting thing about this letter is the angry tone used by Ghalib. He even cursed and used foul language in the letter but just because the phrases are in such a proper Urdu, they don’t seem bad at all. Enjoy:
